Hiring Credit for Small Business

Do you (or your accountant) know about the $1,000 Hiring Credit for Small Businesses?
This temporary credit will be available to employers whos total EI premiums were at or below $10,000, reducing your payroll costs.

This legislative change was a direct result of the June 6, 2011 Federal Budget for 2011.

About Us

Smoky River Regional Economic Development

The Smoky River Regional Economic Development board was established to help strengthen the economy of the region. Their mandate is as follows:

a) To develop and implement an Economic development Action Plan for the Smoky River Region

b) To promote existing resources and encourage new commercial and industrial development

c) To assist existing commercial and industrial businesses with proposed expansion or diversification projects

d) To develop marketing tools for the attraction of new economic ventures and promotion of existing programs and services

Smoky River Region will be a unified community that provides quality living, diversified employment opportunities, and the infrastructure and amenities necessary to sustain a vibrant lifestyle for generations to come.

Mission

Smoky River Regional Economic Development maintains and continues to develop the region as a sustainable, united community that encourages new growth, supports existing businesses and ongoing improvements to the quality of life for all residents.

The Board of Directors meet monthly, normally on the fouth Tuesday of the month, at the Municipal District of Smoky River Council Chambers at 7pm.

Smoky River Tourist Association

Smoky River Tourist Association - also known as Tourisme Smoky River Tourism was registered as a society instablished in 1995.   The Association works with the five municipalities (Village of Donnelly, Village of Girouxville, Town of Faher, Town of McLennan and the M.D. of Smoky RIver #130) to promote the region in all aspects of tourism services.

Membership to the association is made up of the municipalities, businesses and individual members from across the region and who have an interest in travel and tourism services.

The Association operates the regional Visitor Information Centre and hires staff during the summer months.   Montly meetings are held each month on the third Wednesday of the month in conjunction with the Falher & Area Chamber of Commerce.
